State of South Carolina 500 Dollar Bond, the 1867 bond certificate sold by the state. It apparently was never cashed (or never sold), because the coupons at the bottom are intact. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The bond certificate was never folded. It has some stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
