An Original Vintage 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" [8 x 14 cm] Postcard (Learn More)

Glenn Miller was an American big band musician and bandleader from the 1920s to the 1940s. He was the best-selling recording artist from 1939 to 1943, leading one of the best known big bands. In 1944, while serving in the Army Air Force, he was traveling to entertain U.S. troops in France, and his aircraft disappeared in bad weather over the English Channel, and he tragically died "missing in action", and he was only 40 years old. In 1954, Universal released The Glenn Miller Story based on his life, with Jimmy Stewart playing Miller. Some of his works include: In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade and Pennsylvania 6-5000
Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a wonderful group of sixteen full-color postcards that were created by RCA in the early 1940s. Each features a major musician or vocalist who recorded through RCA, and each of the cards has a wonderful full-color portrait of that individual or group, or each has their name printed at the bottom with an image of the RCA dog and Victrola (see our images). We have never auctioned any of these postcards before!

Condition: very good.
