An Original Vintage Paperbacked German World War I Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 37 3/4" [72 x 96 cm]) (Learn More) Kunstlerabend Mozartsaal (literally translates to "Artist Evening at the Mozart Hall"), the 1917 German World War I (WWI) poster promoting a fundraising carnival/festival for the benefit of the Volunteer Medical Section of the Red Cross, which took place in Berlin on April 26th. This poster features wonderful Ludwig Kainer art of a nude woman holding a cornucopia. Note that this event featured the 1917 Henny Porten films "Die Liebe der Blindern" (The Love of the Blind) and "Der Liebesbrief der Konigin" (The Queen's Love Letter), as well as a live dramatic scene from the stage play "Zwischen Nacht und Traum" (Between Night and Dream) with Maria Fein and Paul Hartmann. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Ludwig Kainer Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Also note that this item contains some nudity, so we have placed a white bar over those areas for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual item does not have the white bars. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had two vertical folds near the center. It had something on the back of the left and bottom borders that caused small areas of surface paper loss in both those areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. Someone mounted the poster onto a thin paper backing, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
