An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Romance on the Beat, the 1945 Bud Pollard All American Variety black African American musical ("An All-American streamlined feature!"; "All-Star Colored Cast") starring Ida James (billed as "featuring Ida James the 'Shoo-shoo Baby' Girl"), Lloyd Lionel, Randall Moages, Jimmy Fuller, Hugh Walke, and Tiny Dickerson. Note that Ida James was a "honey-voiced" singer/actress who only appeared in a few movies, but one was a short where she did a duet with Nat King Cole, and another was the classic Hi-De-Ho with Cab Calloway. If anyone knows more about this movie (which was distributed by the All American company, which seems to have pretty much only distributed all black movies and shorts), please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned a lobby card like this one (and that had a different image), and otherwise, we have only auctioned a window card, three stock lobby cards, and some stills in all our years of auctioning. Note that "All American News Inc." was a 1940s company that primarily released black African American films. Much of the movie paper they printed was sepia, but occasionally they did something more exotic, including this card, which has a colored border that extends into the title and credits. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
