Important Added Info: Note that the one-sheet poster for this classic movie is extremely disappointing, because it is mostly text with a small headshot image of Cagney in the bottom right corner. This six-sheet however has one of the greatest patriotic images ever on a movie poster! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines. It had a few small tears and tiny areas of paper loss that were not on foldlines. There were tears and tiny paper loss around the edges. There were some faint smudges scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting. At some point after the poster was backed, it was roughly handled, and there is now a 3" crease in the bottom center of the poster, which caused a tear in the very bottom 1 1/2" of the center of the poster and the excess paper (and any restorer could repair that tear without re-backing the poster).
