Note that the first movie based on Alex Raymond's great newspaper comic strip was "Flash Gordon" in 1936. It was followed by "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars" in 1938, and then this movie in 1940. Important Added Info: Note that first release one-sheets from this third Flash Gordon serial are extremely rare (we have only ever seen chapter posters from two different chapters out of the 12). We have only auctioned this poster, with a great image of Charles Middleton as Ming the Merciless, once before, and that was 14 years ago! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss scattered in the vertical fold, with a much lesser amount of wear in the horizontal folds. It had tears and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
