An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Every Day's a Holiday, the 1937 A. Edward Sutherland historical romantic comedy ("She does him wrong all over again in another romance of the gay, gay nineties!"; "She made the gay nineties gayer!"; "She's just a gal that men forget ..to forget!") starring Mae West, Edmund Lowe, Charles Butterworth, Charles Winninger, Walter Catlett, Lloyd Nolan, Herman Bing, Chester Conklin, and Louis Armstrong NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this wonderful one-sheet, and those were 24 and 27 years ago! It surely has the best poster image of Mae West, and it is one of the best 1930s poster images. There is a commercial poster that is frequently sold that has this image, so everyone is familiar with it, but this is the rare 1937 first release one-sheet! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had a tiny tear and creases in the vertical fold 2" above the top crossfold, and minor wear on the rest of the folds. It had a few small tears, tiny stains, and tiny bits of paper loss in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. A museum restorer paperbacked the poster onto a thin paper backing with no excess. They performed top restoration to the crossfold and tiny fold wear, but they did not perform border restoration, at the request of the owner of the poster. This wonderful poster was really well backed and displays fantastically! One could certainly have restoration performed to the border defects, but I can't see why they would want to. Either way, the poster will display wonderfully on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
