An Original Vintage Color 4x5 Studio Issued Transparency (measures 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Ernest Hemingway's The Killers, the 1964 Don Siegel (billed as "Donald Siegel") crime action thriller ("There is more than one way to kill a man..."; "Explosively New ...in color!"; very loosely based on the short story by Ernest Hemingway) starring Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, John Cassavetes, Ronald Reagan, Clu Gulager, and Claude Akins. This was originally made for TV, but it was so violent that it was released theatrically instead! This started Don Siegel on his action thriller career. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Studio issued transparency released by the studio for publicity purposes at the time of the original release. Exhibits color shift. Note that this is a "studio-issued" transparency that was produced by the studio but is not the camera original. What is a transparency? They are produced by the studio and are very high quality and were created in quantity and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). A clear border around a 4x5 transparency denotes duplication from a negative source, a black border denotes duplication from a positive source. This transparency is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in the plastic sleeve. The coloring of the transparency has changed over the years, and our consignor prepared a "color corrected" version (through PhotoShop), and we have an image of the transparency as it appears alongside the color corrected version, but of course, the auction is for a single transparency. This transparency comes with a studio-created snipe within the sleeve that explains about the transparency (see our image). Condition: good to very good. The color of the transparency has changed from how it originally was, but otherwise, it is in nice condition.
