Flaming Frontiers, the 1938 Alan James & Ray Taylor Native American Indian cowboy western serial ("Look out! 'Flaming Frontiers' just ahead! Indians on the rampage! Ruthless outlaws in blazing action! All the thrills and wild adventure of the old west!"; "15 Wild West Adventure Episodes!"; "15 Wild West adventure chapters!"; "Suggested by 'The Tie That Binds' by Peter B. Kyne"; "Suggested by a Peter B. Kyne story"; "Original Story and Screen Play by Wyndham Gittens, George Plymton, Basil Dickey and Paul Perez") starring Johnny Mack Brown (billed as "John Mack Brown"), Eleanor Hansen, John Archer (billed under his real name, "Ralph Bowman"), Charles Middleton, Charles Stevens, Chief Thundercloud (billed as "Chief Thunder Cloud"), Pat J. O'Brien (billed as "Pat O'Brien"; not THE Pat O'Brien who was part of the "Irish Mafia" with Cagney and McHugh, but another actor who appeared in 17 films between 1921 and 1941), Iron Eyes Cody, Ed Cassidy, Charles King, and Jack Rutherford (as Buffalo Bill Cody). Note that for this serial, Universal prepared great full artwork one-sheets that were completely different from each other for each of the chapters. One wishes that all of the studios had done this for all of the serials. What wonderful posters there would have been!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this pressbook, and only one in the last 19 years! Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was once folded across the middle.
