He is best known for his weekly column which ran in thousands of newspapers and his editorship of William Randolph Heart's Evening Journal. Brisbane passed away in 1936 at the age of 72 AND Walter Winchell was a very popular, influential and legendary newspaper columnist of the 1930s and 1940s, and he served as the basis for J.J. Hunsucker in The Sweet Smell of Success (which was originally written by Ernest Lehman, who had worked for Winchell in the 1930s). Winchell also had a popular radio show, and his voice was incredibly distinctive, and when The Untouchables became a TV show, Winchell was chosen to narrate the show in his distinctive style! He passed away in 1972 at the age of 74. Important Added Info: This album page has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Arthur Brisbane AND Walter Winchell (apparently, the owner of the autograph album acquired Mr. Brisbane's autograph in February of 1933, and then a year later, he presented the autograph album to Walter Winchell, who added a "humorous" observation about Mr. Brisbane to his autograph!). It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this item was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and he also had correspondence with many famous celebrities which he saved. In addition, he would sometimes ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles or from other reputable Hollywood book stores and poster shops (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. So all of these autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from reputable Hollywood book stores, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic!
