An Autographed Contract (measures 8 1/2" x 14" [22 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Dr. Joyce Brothers was a psychologist, television personality and advice columnist from 1955 to the 2010s. She became famous in 1955 when she appeared on "The $64,000 Question" (as a contestant asked about boxing, being the only woman to win the top prize!). That made her nationally famous, and she did the same thing in 1958 on "The $64,000 Challenge", and she became the color commentator for a major boxing match on CBS, the first woman boxing commentator. However, later in 1958, she switched gears and started a TV show in New York City, where she gave relationship advice, and in doing so, she invented the field of "television psychology" (she had a doctorate and was a therapist, and from that point on was always referred to as "Dr. Joyce Brothers"). The following year, the quiz show scandals happened, but she insisted she was never given any answers on either show, and no one has ever proved otherwise. She has appeared on many television shows through the years, including: "The Daily Show", and "Live With Regis and Kathy Lee". She also appeared in several movies as herself: The King of Comedy, Exit to Eden, and Van Wilder. Brothers passed away in 2013 at the age of 85. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Joyce Brothers (it also includes the cover letter, which tells how much she was paid)! We have pictured the first and last pages of the contract. Also note that some contracts have Social Security numbers on them, and when they do, we obscure them in our digital image. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia collector and dealer from the 1970s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good to fine. The contract is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
