Date Sold 6/22/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) The Amazing Doctor Clitterhouse, the 1938 Anatole Litvak New York City screwball crime comedy ("Screen play by John Wexley and John Huston"; "From the play by Barre Lyndon"; a very unusual movie that was far ahead of its time; a successful Park Avenue doctor wants to understand the criminal mind and what drives them to steal, and he starts committing robberies to see if he can understand the motivation!; after a few robberies, he comes in contact with a gang of jewel thieves, and he offers to plan their robberies if they let him study them and monitor their vital signs!) starring Edward G. Robinson ("He's astounding! He's astonishing! He's alarming!"; in the title role as Dr. Clitterhouse), Claire Trevor ("His leading lady from radio's hit show: Big Town"), Humphrey Bogart ("The screen's leading menace... as his deadly rival!"), Allen Jenkins ("Funnier than ever... as N.Y.'s most nervous gangster!"), Donald Crisp, Gale Page, Ward Bond, Max 'Slapsie Maxie' Rosenbloom, and Ronald Reagan (as a radio announcer!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the window card was folded across the center at one time. Because there is tape on the back of the center fold, we couldn't re-fold the window card prior to mailing, and the card will be sent flat. Condition: fair to good. The card was folded across the middle and someone put tape on the back of that foldline for reinforcement. It appears that many years ago, someone did some scattered touch up paint to the foldline and some areas in the image and border areas (it seems likely there were stains scattered in the poster and that someone used a touch up paint that at the time blended in, but over the years since has aged poorly and now shows up as white areas scattered throughout; there may be a different explanation!). Obviously, a talented restorer could newly restore the card, and after proper restoration, this great card will look fantastic (and unlike many other posters from this movie, this card has artwork of Humphrey Bogart!).
