He was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art, founded Interview Magazine, was the author of numerous books, managed and produced the band Velvet Underground, and his studio, The Factory, was a famous gathering place for celebrities and artists. He passed away in 1987 at the age of 58. Warhol had had gallbladder issues, which he delayed getting treated as he was scared of hospitals and doctors. Because of a previous murder attempt, as well as his age, the 'routine' surgery had significant risks, and Warhol died in his sleep after suffering from an arrhythmia. Important Added Info: Note that this book has been personally autographed (signed) by Andy Warhol (he signed it "AW" on the title page)! This is a first edition of this book. Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
