An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More)

The Magic Flame, the 1927 Henry King silent circus crime murder mystery melodrama (nominated for Best Cinematography; a plot that has been re-used many times; a circus clown is a double for a king of a small country, and the king kidnaps his girlfriend, beautiful trapeze artist Vilma Banky; the clown rescues the girl and kills the king, and assumes his identity, becoming a benevolent king, whereas the former king was cruel, and of course, he marries his girlfriend and she becomes a queen!) starring Ronald Colman (in the dual role as "Tito the Clown" and "The Count"), Vilma Banky (as Bianca, the Aerial Artist), Agostino Borgato, and Gustav von Seyffertitz. Note that it was a pretty common plot device in silent movies to not only have people meet their exact double, but also to then go on to impersonate them. I wonder if this happens much in real life! Also note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see!

Condition: very good to fine.
