eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8k116 SCREEN GUIDE magazine January 1942, great portrait of sexy Hedy Lamarr by Jack Albin! Date Sold 11/15/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/2") (Learn More) Screen Guide, one of the many movie magazines sold to the public. Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many color and black and white images throughout. I have looked through many issues of this magazine, and it strikes me that this one was far more risque than the other magazines of this period, often containing stories of a naughty or sexual nature, and with more provocative images of female stars of the day! Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, some in color and some in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! Note that this magazine started off as "Screen Guide and Life" and at some point became "Screen Guide Photo-Parade" and then with the February 1938 issue, the magazine dropped the "Photo-Parade" from the title and simply became "Screen Guide". Then, beginning with the September 1948 issue, the magazine's title changed to "Screen and Television Guide", because of the increasing popularity of TV, but that only lasted a while and then the title reverted back to "Screen Guide". Important Added Info: Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine in the top left of our image, a picture of the table of contents page in the top right of our image, and a picture of one interior two-page spread in the bottom of our image (chosen pretty much at random!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
