Show Of Violence, the 1948 Fredric Wertham psychiatric murder crime book ("A great psychiatrist tells why people turn savage and how bloodshed and murder can be prevented"). Note that this book did not gain author Fredric Wertham a lot of notoriety, even though it was very sensationalistic, and the author attempted to explain the underlying cause of brutal crimes including murder. He was far more successful with his 1954 book, "Seduction of the Innocent", which helped spearhead the crusade against violent comics, and, with the aid of a senate investigation, caused the top selling crime and horror comic books (including the E.C. Comics of Bill Gaines) to cease production, and that book resulted in the institution of a "comic code"!
