An Original 1952 Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Rashomon (released in the U.S. in 1952 as "Rasho-mon"), the classic 1950 Akira Kurosawa Japanese murder mystery crime thriller ("Acclaimed the best picture of the year from any country"; "Winner of the grand prize 1951 Venice Film Festival"; "The great and exciting Japanese production which brings a new experience in the cinema."; where a killing is shown from four different points of view, with wildly different versions) starring Toshiro Mifune, Machiko Kyo (billed as "...introducing the beautiful Machiko Kyo"), Masayuki Mori, Takashi Shimura, and Minoru Chiaki NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned two in all our years of auctioning (once in 2010 and the last time in 2018, but that poster was in "fair to good" condition and this poster is in MUCH nicer condition!) Note also that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: good to very good. The poster has a few small tears along portions of the right edge (three affect only blank paper in the lower half and one at upper right slightly extends into the background) and those are all backed by conservation tape. The poster was never folded and it otherwise has only a few light scuff marks, but otherwise the rare insert is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
