eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3r0957 WHEN A MAN SEES RED TC 1934 great image of cowboy Buck Jones + cool art, ultra rare! Date Sold 3/5/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) When a Man Sees Red, the 1934 Alfred Raboch & Alan James cowboy western ("Story by Basil Dickey") starring Buck Jones, Dorothy Revier, Peggy Campbell, Leroy Mason, and Syd Saylor (billed as "Sid Saylor"). Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. What IS gelbacking? Learn More Condition: good to very good. The card had some staining scattered throughout, more so in the left two-thirds of the card. The card had some pinholes, small tears, and faint stains around the edges. Overall, the card was in fair to good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then chemically performed restoration to the above stains, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. Given the card's defects described above, the restorer did a pretty good job, but you can see slight signs of the defects and the restoration, but the card displays pretty well (see our super-sized images to get a good sense of exactly how the card looks now). There are some tiny tears in the left border and either the restorer did not fix them, or more likely, they were acquired after the card was restored. Learn More about condition grades
