MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR SATAN MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR SATAN Spanish herald OR search current auctions Auction History Result 1r069 MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR SATAN whole serial Spanish herald 1943 different image of Ciannelli & robot! Date Sold 11/8/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1943 (from the first release of this movie in Spain) Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" [9 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Mysterious Doctor Satan, the 1940 John English & William Witney masked super hero mad scientist science fiction (sci-fi) horror serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Eduardo Ciannelli (billed as "Edward Ciannelli"; in the title role as Doctor Satan), Robert Wilcox (as Bob Wayne, and also as "Copperhead", the mysterious masked super hero), William Newell, C. Montague Shaw, Ella Neal, Dorothy Herbert, William Whitney, John English, and Jack Mulhall. Note that posters and lobby cards from this serial have always been popular, both because it is a science fiction serial with a masked super hero (he has a secret identity of "Bob Wayne", and it is not hard to guess where they got that name from!), and because it has a great funky robot that appears prominently on all of the posters! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this Spanish herald is an oddity, because in the case of THIS serial, they not only created three different heralds for each of the three parts that they separated it into (see below), but they ALSO created this herald for the entire serial (I guess so that theaters wanting to save money could just order this one and use it for all three parts!). Note that apparently this feature movie was split into three different parts when it played in Spain in 1947 (perhaps they showed them at Saturday matinees there), or the serial version was combined into a total of three parts, because we have seen heralds that reference the first, second, and third "jornada" (likely each contained five of the fifteen chapters). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that when Spanish heralds have printing on the back, we picture both sides, but when they are blank on the back, we only picture the front. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 44 Spanish heralds we were consigned from a man who collected them over many DECADES! He was able to track down some extremely rare titles, including some we have never auctioned before, and many of these heralds in excellent condition. This is a rare opportunity to add the rarest Spanish heralds to your collection! Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
