An Hardcover Bound Volume of 26 Original Vintage Movie Magazines (measures 9 1/2" x 12" [24 x 30 cm]; 624 pages) (Learn More)

Die Filmwoche (literally translates to "The Film Week"), the German movie magazine. Each issue contained a varying number of pages, but usually around 24 pages. Each issue has heavily illustrated articles about then current movies from all over the world, including many great U.S. movies of that year, and also articles about popular movie stars, including candid images of them. Any examples of this publication are unbelievably rare! The only issues we have auctioned are the first 26 issues from 1929, which we were consigned in a single bound volume. Those issues were dated 1929, and we don't know how much further the magazine was published, if at all. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful bound volume contains the first 26 issues of this German magazine (number 1 from January 2, 1929 and including the next 25 issues complete). As noted above, we have never even auctioned a single issue of this magazine, which tells you how incredibly rare they are! Given that this has 624 pages, we could obviously only picture a relatively small number of pages from it. Among the images we pictured are three pages that show cult star Louise Brooks, two from her performance in Pandora's Box, and one candid of her playing tennis, but there are lots and lots of other wonderful images we could not picture. Note: We have 14 images of the magazines in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 14 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 4.

Condition: very good to fine. The binding and the magazines are generally in really nice condition. There are some blank interior pages bound in that have some clippings glued to them. We don't know if this was done by the person who created the bound volume, or by some later owner of it, but that is not really significant, since they are only attached to blank pages, and they are generally interesting items! See our many images to get a good sense of the condition of this bound volume.
