Gordon Edwards silent Biblical historical romantic betrayal melodrama ("The seductress who sowed sin in ancient Galilee, whose tempestuous blood has traced a scarlet thread through the centuries"; "A Theda Bara Super Production"; based on the Biblical story of Salome, King Herod, and John the Baptist) starring Theda Bara ("Siren supreme of the screen"; in the title role as Salome), G. Raymond Nye (as King Herod), Alan Roscoe (as John the Baptist), Herbert Hayes, and Bertram Grassby. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this "Press Agents' Road Book"! In 1918, studios had not yet standardized pressbooks as they did in the early 1920s, and the few that have been found are not like the ones of later years, often only picturing one poster, and sometimes none of the posters, as is the case with this Press Agents' Road Book, which is what it is called on the front cover. We don't know if there was a different pressbook of any sort made for this movie, and virtually nothing has survived from this film! Condition: fair, WITH CUTS. There are two large cuts on page 6/7 and one large cut on page 10/11. There is a large stain at the top center of the cover that bleeds through to all the interior pages. The book was folded down the center. There is clear tape down the spine and a few other tape repairs on the covers. Learn More about condition grades
