It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Howard Chaykin Important Added Info: Note that this is the very FIRST poster produced for the first Star Wars movie! In 1976, this poster was printed by George Lucas, and then was given away at places like the San Diego Comic Con in 1976 and 1977, in an attempt to get fans interested in the upcoming movie! It was labeled as the first in the series (it says, "Poster1" in the lower left corner) and more different posters were intended to be printed as giveaways, but no other posters were later made. This poster has been consigned to us directly from noted poster collector Craig Miller, who worked for George Lucas at the time this poster was made, and for the three years following! When buying posters like this, one always worries about the possibility that the poster you are buying might not be authentic, but this poster surely has the best possible provenance, coming directly from a Lucas employee, who is active in the poster hobby! Note that this is an extra example of this poster that Craig currently owns, obtained when the poster was first created (one will remain in his personal collection). Note that Craig has also consigned an example of the famous Star Wars Birthday Poster, as well as an Official Star Wars Fan Club Poster and the "chrome robot" poster from THX 1138, which we are selling elsewhere on eBay as individual auctions. Also note that this special poster measures 20" x 29" and that this poster was never machine folded. Most movie posters from before 1980 were machine folded immediately after printing, but a very few were left unfolded. An unfolded poster from before 1980 is almost always far more difficult to find than a folded poster of the same title, and finding unfolded posters in excellent condition is even more difficult! Note that this poster has a few minor creases throughout (more so around the edges), but they are really not very noticeable at all from the front (and mostly only saw them when I looked at the back of the poster). I can't imagine a collector who would not be happy with this great poster! Condition: fine. Learn More about condition grades
