An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

High Sierra, the classic 1941 Raoul Walsh crime film noir ("He killed, and there on the edge of the crest of Sierra's highest crag... he must be killed!"; "Blazing Mountain Man-Hunt for Killer 'Mad-Dog' Earle!"; "Towering thrills with this year's academy award star!"; "The blazing mountain man-hunt for killer 'Mad Dog' Earle!"; "'This is the most exciting story I know!' - says ace story-teller and columnist Mark Hellinger"; "No man ever reached greater heights... to wait for death!"; "If you liked 'They Drive By Night' wait 'til you see... 'High Sierra'"; from a novel by W.R. Burnett) starring Ida Lupino, Humphrey Bogart (in one of his best roles, and the movie that helped elevate him from second-tier status to first-rate star!; as Mad Dog Roy Earle), Alan Curtis, Arthur Kennedy, Joan Leslie, Henry Hull, Henry Travers, Minna Gombell, Barton MacLane, Jerome Cowan, Elisabeth Risdon, and Cornell Wilde (15th billed in his first credited role)

Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful still shows Humphrey Bogart embracing Ida Lupino in a Warner Bros. studio portrait by Bert Six. The movie is 1941's "High Sierra", and the person who wrote the text for the snipe on the back took great liberties in describing this movie as Bogart's "first starring role", because actually, he had been in movies for a decade!

Note that this still measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock.

Note that we are currently auctioning over 100 ultra rare 11x14 stills (some measure slightly smaller) that are mostly from the 1930s, all in separate auctions! The highlight of these is the 58 of them that were consigned to us by a collector who acquired them many years ago, and they feature wonderful images of many of the greatest 1930s Hollywood stars, including James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Edward G. Robinson, and many others! These are many times more rare than 8x10 stills, and are very rarely offered for sale or at auction, and many of these may be "one of a kind"! This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one or many of these extreme rarities!

Condition: very good.
