An Original Vintage Theatrical English Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures approximately 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) In a Lonely Place, the classic 1950 Nicholas Ray Hollywood screenwriting romantic crime film noir ("The Bogart suspense picture with the surprise finish-"; "Look deep into these eyes! Is it love, hate or murder? They're the eyes of Humphrey Bogart"; "Suspense mounts steadily right up to the surprise finish!"; about a troubled and possibly deranged screenwriter who becomes involved in the murder of a young woman and how that adversely affects his romantic relationship with his sexy neighbor) starring Humphrey Bogart (as Dixon Steele), Gloria Grahame, Frank Lovejoy, Carl Benton Reid, Art Smith, Jeff Donnell, Martha Stewart, Alix Talton, Morris Ankrum, Robert Warwick, James Griffith, Steven Geray, and Hadda Brooks (the jazz legend who has a brief appearance playing the piano). Note that star Gloria Grahame was married to director Nicholas Ray at the time this movie was made, but they had a very "difficult" relationship, and the marriage ended two years later under pretty dreadful circumstances (and it seems pretty likely that Nicholas Ray drew heavily from his own life in creating the title character of Dixon Steele)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was gel backed, and while it could be rolled and sent in a tube, we would worry that doing so would either damage the poster or bring back the folds. Therefore, we would much prefer to send it in a large flat package. However, if the new buyer insists, we will send it in a tube, but only if they accept responsibility for doing so. Condition: good to very good. Prior to gelbacking, the poster was never folded. It had paper loss in the bottom right corner extending into the yellow background and some pinholes, smudges, and stains around the edges. It had some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in good to condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see signs of the restoration, but the poster displays well! Someone put a piece of clear tape in the center of the top and bottom blank borders. Learn More about condition grades
