eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5w0374 CONQUEST OF EVEREST Japanese 1954 different art of climber Sir Edmund Hillary, ultra rare! Date Sold 1/18/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1954 (from the first release of this movie in Japan) Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More) The Conquest of Everest, the 1953 George Lowe English Nepal/Tibet Himalayas mountain climbing hiking sports documentary ("The Supreme Adventure of Our Time!"; "The 1953 Expedition with Hunt, Hillary and Tensing"; about the first successful ascent of Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay) narrated by Meredith Edwards. Note that the expedition was led by English Army Officer John Hunt, but he did not make the final ascent to the top of the mountain, and for that reason, his name is pretty much lost to history, although he got top billing over Hillary and "Tensing" (which is how they billed Tensing Norgay, the Nepalese Sherpa who led them to the top of the mountain) on the English posters, which were made right after the event occurred. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning (or ANY other Japanese movie paper for this film)! Condition: very good to fine. There is a very light horizontal crease across the poster at upper and lower center from it being stored with posters that were tri-folded. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well! Learn More about condition grades
