An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12" x 15 1/2" [30 x 39 cm]; 14 pages). Also included are 7 ad supplements that have 2, 3, and 8 pages; also included is a 1 page herald (Learn More) Mondo Cane, the classic 1962 (released in the U.S. in 1963) Paolo Cavara, Franco Prosperi & Gualtiero Jacopetti Italian sexploitation bizarre human oddity documentary ("Overpowering, fascinating - often shocking!"; "enter a hundred incredible worlds where the camera has never gone before!"; "A Masterpiece in Film Making"; "All the scenes you will see in this film are true and taken only from life. If often they are shocking it is because there are many astounding and even unbelievable things in this world."; featuring sex orgies, shark attacks, drunken Germans!, and a smoking chicken) narrated by Stefano Sibaldi. This was the very first movie of its kind, and was excellent, but unfortunately, its success spawned a huge number of imitators, most of which were exploitative and pretty worthless! One could make a convincing argument that all of today's "reality" TV owes a huge debt to this movie! Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook is a different style than the other "Mondo Cane" pressbook we currently have at auction. This pressbook is made up of a folder with several loose supplements and a herald. Also note that this auction also includes the envelope this item originally came with! Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of the pressbook, plus an image of a two-page spread from inside of the pressbook (we do NOT picture any supplements or heralds, if there are any included with this pressbook), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
