An Undated (probably 1970s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures approximately 13" x 30" [33 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) For The Term Of His Natural Life, (Released in the U.S. in 1929) the 1927 Norman Dawn Australian silent prison escape adventure romance ("Adapted from Marcus Clarke's Immortal Story"; about an Australian convict who was falsely accused of yet another crime after arriving in Australia, and he is sent to an Australian penal colony for life; there he falls in love with the warden's daughter, and has to confront the evil convicts, including one who looks just like him!) starring Eva Novak, George Fisher, Dunstan Webb, Arthur McLaglen, Jessica Harcourt, Mayne Lynton, Katherine Dawn, Compton Coutts, and Arthur Tauchert ("And a Cast of Thousands"). Note that Australia was founded by English convicts who were exiled there, and in the very early days of film, there are many Australian movies. But by the 1920s, there was not much of an Australian film presence, and this movie was intended to jump start that with a big budget and based on a classic Australian book that was much loved by Australians, due to its realistic portrayal of harsh English treatment of Australian convicts. But the movie had the great misfortune of being filmed as a silent in 1927, and by the time it was released in the U.S. in 1929, there was almost no demand for silent movies, and it quickly became forgotten.
