An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) La Chauve-Souris (literally translates to "The Bat"), the 1932 Pierre Billon & Karel Lamac French/German musical romantic melodrama (based on the play by Ludovic Halevy, which was later part of the inspiration for the operetta "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss) starring Anny Ondra, Ivan Petrovich, Marcel Carpentier, Marcelle Denya, Louise Lagrange, and Lisette Lanvin. This was a French version of the German movie "Die Fledermaus", made in 1931 (but this was not released until 1932). This is similar to what Universal did with "Dracula" in 1931. They filmed the movie twice, once in English, and once in Spanish, with two entirely different casts, U.S. actors for the English version and mostly Latin actors for the Spanish version, obviously for release in Spanish speaking countries, and the same was done with this movie (the German language version also starred Anny Ondra, but her co-stars were different German actors). The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
