An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27 1/2" x 41") (Learn More) Mad Youth, the 1940 Melville Shyer wild dancing teens musical melodrama ("A jitterbug dance - a paid romance!"; "Free-living mothers - neglected daughters - paid escorts"; "Are modern mothers to be blamed for the wild escapades of - their sons & daughters?"; "Revealing... the pitfalls and dangers of this streamlined age") starring Mary Ainslee, Betty Compson, William Costello (billed as "Willy Castello"), Betty Atkinson, Tommy Wonder, and Lorelei Readoux NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 27 1/2" x 41". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 27" x 41". Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had many tears, creases, and small areas of paper loss along most of the foldlines. There was a 10" tear running through the hair of the girl at top right and a similar tear running through the hair of the man at top left, and a 5" semi-circular tear running through his neck. The poster was folded in half an extra time, and there were a lesser number of creases and tears on those extra foldlines. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and the many defects were well restored. You can see traces of them when looking at the poster, but they are not particularly distracting, and I think the poster displays well! Learn More about condition grades
