Date Sold 3/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Tri-Folded Twenty-Four-Sheet Movie Poster (24sh; measures approximately 9' x 20') (Learn More) Len Deighton's The Ipcress File (released in Italy simply as "Ipcress"), the 1965 Sidney J. Furie English spy espionage crime action thriller ("The spy story of the century"; "Top Secret"; "Unbelievable... but true!"; "The most daring 'Sexpionage' story you will ever see!"; "From the breathless best-seller by Len Deighton"; "Screenplay by Bill Canaway & James Doran") starring Michael Caine (as Harry Palmer), Nigel Green, Guy Doleman, Sue Lloyd, Gordon Jackson, and Aubrey Richards NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this poster before! Note that this twenty-four sheet was printed in 12 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster needs to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 16" x 35" x 2", so it will cost more to send than items that fit in our standard flat packages, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses. Finally, note that this is one of a remarkable collection of ELEVEN 24-sheets we are currently auctioning, and they are from 1957 to 1986, years that you would not expect ANY 24-sheets to have survived from, and they include first release 24-sheets from both Star Wars and Return of the Jedi, which are surely in the handful of most rare Star Wars posters there are! This is an incredibly rare opportunity to add any of these eleven posters to your collection! Condition: good to very good. There is darkening and paper loss on the back of the foldline that was in the section that was on the outside when the poster was fully folded, which falls in the upper part left blank border and the black border next to it, and slightly extends into the "G" of "GOLDFINGER", and into the bottom of the "F" of "FAR". There is also a "5" in a circle that bleeds through from the back in the blank white background near that, but the darkening doesn't show, and in the big scheme of things, this is not all that much of a defect! Also, when the poster was fully folded, someone put three small pieces of paper tape on the back of the sections to keep them together, and they caused some tears in those areas, but nothing substantial (and the pieces of tape are still on the back of the poster). There are some creases, smudges, and tiny tears on the other foldlines, and some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. Please look at our super-sized image to get a sense of the exact condition of this poster. The above defects are certainly not that serious, and it is remarkable that this poster has survived at all!
