An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Wild Heart (also released as "Gypsy Blood"; this is the re-edited version of "Gone to Earth" which was filmed in 1950), the 1952 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English/U.S. romantic tragic melodrama ("LOST to a love she was helpless to resist! ... Jennifer Jones in a performance as memorable as those she gave in 'DUEL IN THE SUN', and 'SONG OF BERNADETTE'."; "A performance as memorable as those she gave in 'The Song of Bernadette' and Duel In The Sun'."; "Alexander Korda presents a production of The Archers"; "Lost to a love without question!... The fire of 'Duel in the Sun'; the grandeur of 'Song of Bernadette'."; "Written, Produced and Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger"; based on the novel by Mary Webb; about a beautiful girl who lives in the woods and befriends animals and has a beloved pet fox, and she meets a local squire who unfortunately organizes fox hunts, which kind of guarantees their romance is doomed) starring Jennifer Jones, David Farrar, Cyril Cusack, Sybil Thorndike, and Edward Chapman. Note that two of the greatest people in film history clashed on the making of this movie! The original version in 1950 was called "Gone to Earth", and producer David O. Selznick was distressed to see that his beautiful young wife Jennifer Jones did not have nearly as much screen time as he wished! That led to a court battle between Powell and Selznick, and ultimately, the movie was re-edited and re-released two years later as "The Wild Heart", retaining only two-thirds of the original movie, with the added one-third including many close-ups of Jennifer Jones! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this partially English movie (as noted above, this is from the first version of this movie, when it was called "Gone to Earth" in 1950)! Also note that we have only twice before auctioned this English one-sheet (but one of them was the same example as this one, so we have still only auctioned two examples of it)! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and at the right end of the top horizontal fold. There were pinholes in the corners and some minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but after it was backed, it acquired a small stain in the lower right blank border and also some stains in the upper right excess linen. Neither of these will show if the poster is framed, and of course, the stains on the excess linen are inconsequential. Learn More about condition grades
