An Original Vintage Folded Circus Poster (measures 28" x 42"; with snipe that extends it to a total length of 36 1/2" x 42") (Learn More) Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus, the 1943 circus poster ("Let freedom ring") featuring Bill Bailey artwork of a woman and a train of elephants in winged costumes going past knights on horseback who are holding a banner. The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years. Artist: Bill Bailey Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! It has a large paper snipe attached showing where the circus was playing, and the play dates. That snipe can be easily removed by a professional or talented amateur, but certainly many people might choose to leave it on (that will be the choice of the new owner of this poster). Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has a large snipe attached to the bottom (see above). It has the date written in pencil in the upper left corner and the bottom right background of the image. It has some tiny tears and darkening in the right of the top blank border. Otherwise the poster has very minor fold wear and is in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
