MGM - David Weisz Co. Auction 05/03/70, the legendary set of 5 catalogs for the auction held on 05/03/70 "of the countless treasures acquired from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer". In 1970, someone at MGM decided that they wanted to quit storing tons of memorabilia from movies they had made, figuring they could stop paying rent on the storage facilities and collect some money from selling the stuff! Most people at that time had no sense that this material was worth saving or acquiring, but superstar Debbie Reynolds borrowed all the money she could and spent a fortune at the auction, intending to open a Hollywood museum with her purchases! The story of what happened next can be quickly found on the Internet.

Important Added Info: These catalogs rarely are offered for sale, usually one of the five. What we are offering here is a complete set of all five catalogs, plus several pages of "important additional auctioneer's notes" designed to be attached to each of the catalogs. All five are in the original mailing carton they were sent in, and that carton will be sent to the winning bidder of this auction. This is a very rare opportunity to obtain a complete set of these legendary memorabilia auction catalogs!
