An Original Vintage Promotional Photo Set (measures 4" x 7 1/2"; includes 12 photos that measures 3 1/2" x 5" and a 4-page brochure that measures 3 1/2" x 7") (Learn More) Some Like It Hot, the classic 1959 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic musical cross-dressing drag crime comedy ("Hot!!!"; about two out of work musicians who happen to witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago, and they need to leave town in a hurry, but the only jobs they can get is with an all-girl band, and they dress in drag, and one of the band members is Marilyn Monroe!) starring Marilyn Monroe ("and her bosom companions"), Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), George Raft, Pat O'Brien, and Joe E. Brown (the great star of 1920s and 1930s slapstick comedy, who practically steals this movie with a wonderful comic performance and an unforgettable final line!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this set is surely one of the most unusual and most rare Marilyn Monroe promotional items there is. It was created by United Artists to promote "Some Like It Hot", and it was surely only sent to either theaters or media people, or both, but we have never auctioned it before, and it is surely incredibly rare. It consists of a printed envelope that measures 4" x 7 1/2", which contains a 4-page brochure that measures 3 1/2" x 7" (it has a front and a back and an inside double page, so we have three pictures of those), and it has 12 "post card poses", which are NOT "postcards" in the modern sense, but which measure 3 1/2" x 5", and are printed on a quality paper stock. What is especially wonderful about these is that these "art studies" (as they are referred to on the brochure) "are from a set by world-famous Photographer Richard Avedon". The printed envelope says "HOT! 12 beautiful picture post card poses by America's most beautiful girl for your private contemplation and delectation" and "WARNING: Highly volatile and may burst into flame!" Condition: very good to fine. The 12 photos are in wonderful condition. The brochure has a light brown stain in the far right of the back cover and two tiny brown stains on the front cover of it. The envelope was opened across the top and it has pencil writing in the top right (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
