Note that theaters would order these photos by the thousands from the poster exchanges, and then they would overprint the back with information about movies they were about to play, and then pass them out like regular heralds. In the case of these three, two of them are "sample" photo heralds, which have the cost printed on the front, and are blank on the back. Those were sent to theaters to try to get them to order large quantities. The third one is a different kind of sample and it has information about the Dick Powell movie "Broadway Gondolier" printed on the back, with a small box at the bottom giving information about the cost of the heralds, and saying that "this space left for imprint of theater and play date".
