An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) John Brophy's Immortal Sergeant, the 1943 John Stahl World War II (WWII) military romantic melodrama (based on the novel by John Brophy; about a Canadian soldier in the British army in North Africa, and he worries about his girl back home and how he will do when his mentor, a tough sergeant, is killed in action) starring Henry Fonda, Maureen O'Hara, Thomas Mitchell, Allyn Joslyn, Reginald Gardiner, Melville Cooper, Bramwell Fletcher, and Morton Lowry. Note that Henry Fonda was made "Canadian" in this movie to explain why he was the only one without an English accent, and that immediately after this movie, Fonda (not unlike Mister Roberts) enlisted in the Army so that he could actually play a role in the real war. After he got out, he played Mister Roberts on stage, and ended up in that role for six years, and over 1,600 performances! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. There is paper loss in the bottom left corner. There are tears and small areas of paper loss around the edges. There is a 10" diagonal tear going through the "A" of "FONDA" in the top center of the poster that was repaired with paper tape from the reverse. There is some darkening on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded. There are some creases and several tears along the foldlines that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded. There are some creases, smudges, and tiny tears on some foldlines, and some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds.
