Date Sold 3/12/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) Tommy Dorsey was a jazz musician, trombonist, and bandleader from the 1920s to the 1950s, performing with all the other greats of that era, and also with his own band with his brother Jimmy. He was known as "The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing". Some movies that included his music are Song of India, Maria, and On Treasure Island. A movie about the Dorseys was made called The Fabulous Dorseys. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 51. Important Added Info: Note that this still was from so early in Frank Sinatra's career that not only was he billed much smaller than Tommy Dorsey, but he was also billed under "Connie Haines". To add insult to injury, he was so little known at this time that he was billed as "Frank Sinatri", and this great still shows the marquee with that classic misspelling! Condition: very good to fine.
