The secret of Manderley... challenging, mysterious... broods over a powerful drama of two lonely people who lived on courage and hope!"; "Produced by David O. Selznick who made 'Gone With the Wind'"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a young woman who marries a rich and powerful widower after a short romance, and she feels she is in constant competition with her husband's dead wife, or is she?) starring Laurence Olivier (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "Hero of Wuthering Heights"), Joan Fontaine (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "in her sensational starring debut"), George Sanders, Judith Anderson (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Gladys Cooper, Nigel Bruce, Reginald Denny, C. Aubrey Smith, and Florence Bates NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the card has a very minor printing defect, which is a series of faint light blue and pink lines down the left edge of the left blank border. This was a very minor printing defect that occurred during the printing of these cards, and it is found on many 1950s and early 1960s lobby cards, and few collectors consider it much of a defect at all, because it is in the left edge of the blank border, has no effect on the image, and would likely be on all examples of this lobby card. Note that this lobby card is from a special collection of 41 scene lobby cards, all of which are from Laurence Olivier movies (and each is in its own auction)! The collector who assembled this collection spent DECADES searching out scene cards from as many of Laurence Olivier's movies as he could find, and he always tried to find the best scene in the best condition, and he mostly found first release cards. 40 of the 41 cards show Olivier (most of them an excellent image of him). The one exception is the card from THE YELLOW TICKET, which does not show Olivier (it is extremely early in his career, and it is not clear how many cards, if any, he is shown on). This is a rare opportunity to acquire one or more scene cards of Laurence Olivier, who many have called the finest actor of all time! Condition: very good to fine. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card! Learn More about condition grades
