An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Valley of Silent Men, the 1922 Frank Borzage silent Canadian Northwest Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Mountie crime murder melodrama ("By James Oliver Curwood"; about a Canadian Mountie who is severely wounded while on duty, and he believes himself to be dying, so, to help a friend, he confesses to a murder his best friend was accused of, but was actually innocent of, thinking that will save his friend and he will die anyway, but then he has an amazing recovery, so of course, he is arrested for the murder he confessed to, and he must escape from jail and find the real murderer to clear himself, and he also wins the love of his sweetheart!) starring Alma Rubens, Lew Cody, Joe King, Mario Majeroni, and George Nash. Note that there were a huge number of "Canadian Mountie" movies in the 1920s, most based on James Oliver Curwood novels, but apparently, this was one of the best of them (and it does have a clever plot). Also note that Lew Cody usually played villains, but was the hero in this movie (which might explain why he does not receive billing!). Finally, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned some lobby cards and a glass slide from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a tiny bit of paper loss in the vertical fold below the middle crossfold. It had pinholes in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
