An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 151 pages) (Learn More) Broadcast News, the 1987 James L. Brooks romantic love triangle television news comedy ("It's the story of their lives."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring William Hurt (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Albert Brooks (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Holly Hunter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Robert Prosky, Lois Chiles, and Jack Nicholson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script is the second draft from April 1986 and the screenplay was written by James L. Brooks. It was sent directly from James L. Brooks to Charles Shyer (see below). At this point, the movie did not have a title, and the title page of the script says "UNTITLED" where the title would be. Brooks wanted Shyer's opinion of the script. There is a typed page included with the script that is headed "Jim's Script - General thoughts" that gives six of Shyer's reactions to the script (we imagine he had it typed up and sent back to Brooks). Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. In addition, as a member of the screenwriter's branch of the Academy, he was sent many scripts where the producers hoped that their script would be nominated for a Best Screenwriting Academy Award, and many of these have "for your consideration" printed on the cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter! Condition: very good to fine.
