Date Sold 9/6/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Standee (measures 10 3/4" x 13 3/4" [27 x 35 cm]) (Learn More) Cecil B. DeMille was a legendary director from the 1910s to the 1950s. What makes him so remarkable is that he made some of the very first great movies, including "The Squaw Man" in 1914, but he was one of the only great silent directors to have no trouble transitioning to sound, and he made great movies in the sound era, even into the 1950s! Some of his movies include: The Ten Commandments, The Greatest Show on Earth, and Samson and Delilah. Of course, he also had a memorable acting role in Billy Wilder's "Sunset Boulevard" in 1950 (he did a great job, but it was made easier because he was playing himself!). He passed away in 1959 at the age of 77. Important Added Info: Note that this standee, which has a FACSIMILE autograph that is within the printing (it has NOT been personally autographed), was likely sent to theater owners that showed DeMille movies. We have never auctioned one of these before, and we would think they are quite rare. The standee backing is still attached to to the back of the standee and it has "IMPORTANT! This Attractive Business Getter is a GENUINE PHOTOGRAPH. Benefit yourself by seeing that it is WELL DISPLAYED. MANUFACTURED BY STADLER PHOTOGRAPHING CO. CHICAGO NEW YORK", so we imagine they wanted theater owners to prominently display this standee in their lobbies! Condition: good to very good. The standee was never used. There is some staining around the edges of the front and back, and some discoloration scattered in the image (see our images of the front and back). Learn More about condition grades
