An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Eye of Death, the circa 1920 silent melodrama ("A smashing big drama of a man who knew no fear") starring James J. Corbett (real life U.S. heavyweight boxing champion, billed as "America's Favorite"; better known as "Gentleman Jim"). Note that we have seen posters and a glass slide with this title, and they are all listed as being released by Capital Film Co., Inc. This was a company that either made or distributed movies between 1918 and 1921. Corbett only appeared in a total of 10 movies, and none of them were called "The Eye of Death", so we strongly suspect that this movie (and maybe many or all of the other Capital Film Co., Inc. movies) were re-titlings of earlier movies. If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good. There are some smudges on the glass that can surely be cleaned. Otherwise, the slide is in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
