An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Bohemian Girl, the 1936 James W. Horne & Charles Rogers historical European royalty gypsy romantic musical screwball comedy ("90 mad, merry musical moments!"; "Based on the Opera by Balfe"; produced by Hal Roach, who also an uncredited director and writer!; about two very bumbling gypsies, one of whose wives steals the infant daughter of a nobleman, and they raise her as their own, and only when she grows up does she learn of her royal birth) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), Thelma Todd (her final screen appearance before her mysterious death), Antonio Moreno, Mae Busch, Darla Hood, Julie Bishop (billed as "Jacqueline Wells"), and Mae Busch. Note that when this movie was made, "gypsies" were a stereotype villain in movies of this sort. Fortunately, in recent years, great efforts have been made to eliminate these stereotypes, and even the word "gypsy" itself has been mostly eliminated, replaced by "Romani". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card had staining and paper loss down the left 1/2". It also had a stain in the word "STAN" at lower right and extending into the background to the left of it. There was a small area of surface paper loss and staining near the center of the bottom blank border, with some staining above it slightly extending into the first "L" of "LAUREL". There were faint stains in the lower right blank border, with some extending into the yellow background. Otherwise, the card was in really wonderful condition (it likely was part of the Royal Theatre find, because the card is so crisp and white!). Someone performed amateur restoration to the above defects from the front of the card and they are noticeable, but they are not very distracting. One could certainly frame and enjoy this card as it is, or one might choose to have professional restoration performed, either with or without backing the card. Learn More about condition grades
