An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #2 (11x14; LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Man From Planet X, the 1951 Edgar Ulmer UFO space alien science fiction (sci-fi) horror melodrama ("The Weirdest Visitor the Earth has ever seen!"; "The deadliest enemy the world has ever known!"; "Written and produced by Aubrey Wisberg and Jack Pollexfen"; about a scientist who discovers a planet is approaching the Earth, and then a spaceship lands in a remote part of Scotland, and the daughter of the scientist tries to make contact with the alien onboard!) starring Robert Clarke, Margaret Field, Raymond Bond, William Schallert, Roy Engel, and Pat Goldin (billed as "and the Strange Man from Planet X"). Note that reading the plot summary above would make you think that this movie was a rip-off of The Day the Earth Stood Still, but actually, it came out BEFORE that, and also before most of the 1950s sci-fi greats. It was shot in six days on a budget of $43,000, a tiny fraction of the budgets for "The Thing From Another World" ($1.6 million) and "The Day The Earth Stood Still" ($1.2 million), and while it lacks in special effects, it still was a groundbreaking movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the back of this card was overprinted with a solid rectangular pattern. This was commonly done in the 1950s so that old lobby cards could be re-used as "frames" for 8x10 stills. This IS an original lobby card. Condition: good to very good. When a still was attached to the back of the card , someone cut four diagonal slits in each corner of the image, and cut out a small triangle area by each slit. They put the corners of the still into each slit from the back of the card, and then taped the still into place from the front of the card. A really talented restorer replaced the four small triangles of image loss in each corner, and then really expertly touched it up from the front, and I think very few people would realize that the card had ever had this defect, and it certainly displays wonderfully! But please do not bid on this card unless you can accept this unusual defect that was restored expertly. Learn More about condition grades
