An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Brotherly Love, the 1928 Charles Reisner romantic love triangle prison football sports comedy (Dane is a guard at a prison where Arthur is the barber; both men love the warden's daughter, and Dane gets Arthur arrested, so he ends up an inmate, and then gets him on the prison football team in hopes he will get hurt, but he is the star of the team; when he gets released from prison before the big football game, he has to figure out how to get sent back in, so he can help the team in the championship game!) starring Karl Dane, George K. Arthur, Jean Arthur, Richard Carlyle, and Edward Connelly. This movie certainly has some elements in common with the classic Burt Reynolds football movie, "The Longest Yard"! Also note that Karl Dane and George K. Arthur appeared in two of the same movies in the mid-1920s, and then in 1927, MGM paired the huge Dane with the diminutive Arthur as a comedy team in 1927's "Rookies", and they were a huge hit, and over the next four years, they appeared in a total of 17 comedies as a Laurel & Hardy-like slapstick comedy team. But Dane had a very thick accent, and he could not make the transition to sound movies, and he had a few bit parts given to him by friends, but by 1934, he was washed up, and he bought a hot dog cart which he displayed outside of the MGM gates! Apparently, he reasonably found this extremely depressing, and he soon committed suicide. The following year, Arthur retired from movies and became a Broadway producer among other careers, and he lived until 1985, when he was 86 years old! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has next-to-no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good to very good. There are three areas of paper loss in the bottom blank border. There is a 3" vertical tear in the center of the bottom border. There is uneven darkening in parts of the borders. Other than the above, the card is in pretty nice condition!
