An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures 13 1/4" x 27 1/2" [34 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Tom E Jerry Metti Un Formaggino A Cena (literally translates to "Tom And Jerry Give Us a Small Cheese With Dinner"), the 1969 Italian Tom & Jerry cat-and-mouse chase animated animation cartoon comedy short compilation. The shorts included: Cannery Rodent, Filot Meow, Haunted Mouse, Mouse From Hunger, On Feline Bondage, Snowbody Loves Me, Year of the Mouse, Is There a Doctor in The Mouse, Senor Droopy, The Bear and the Bean, Google Fishing Bear, and Unshrinkable Jerry Mouse. Note that this poster is far more violent (and far more true to the spirit of the actual cartoons!) than the bland U.S. posters from the same time period! Note that Tom and Jerry is a classic series of cartoons created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The first one was created in 1940, and there as a total of 114 cartoons through 1957. Seven of these won Academy Awards for Best Cartoon, tying for most wins with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies. There were around 50 more cartoons created after the first run ended, through the early 2000s, and there were also TV shows based on these classic characters. Some people have criticized the cartoons for their "excessive violence", but actually no blood or gore was ever shown in any of them, and this type of violence is commonly referred to as "cartoon violence". Many of the Tom and Jerry cartoons are extremely clever and make wonderful use of music. They are not nearly as appreciated today as they should be, but in their day, they were among the most popular cartoons of the 1940s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
