2 Undated (probably 1930s) Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Lone Defender, the 1930 Richard Thorpe canine German Shepherd dog action adventure cowboy western serial ("A Mascot Production in twelve action-crammed chapters"; "All-Talking serial in twelve stirring chapters"; "A thrilling, all-talking serial in 12 chapters"; "A stirring all-talking serial in 12 chapters"; produced by Nat Levine) starring Rin-Tin-Tin (most famous of the movie dog stars, he was Warner Bros.' #1 star in their early lean years and the earnings from his movies kept the studio in the black!), Walter Miller, June Marlowe, Buzz Barton, Joseph Swickard, Lee Shumway, and Julia Bejarano. Note that this was the first Mascot serial to be released solely in a sound version. Also, in 1934, Mascot re-edited this serial into a feature-length film of the same name, and because this 1934 "feature version" was made four years after the serial version, and because it was highly edited, we are list it as a separate entry from this serial.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a mid-1930s re-release, and NOT from the first 1930 release. All of the Mascot serials of the very early 1930s were re-released in the mid-1930s. In each case, the re-release posters were undated, and printed from the original plates, but had less color than the original release posters. In the case of this particular poster, a tagline that was on the original release poster, "All-Talking" was deleted from the re-release poster.

Condition: very good to fine.
