True to Life."). It is my understanding that Thomas Edison filmed The Passion Play in 1896, and distributed with great success in that year. In 1898, another company made a different version, called "The Passion Play of Oberammergau", and Edison sued them and was awarded the rights to that movie as well (if this is incorrect or incomplete, please e-mail me further information so that I can update this listing).
