Date Sold 5/13/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 5 1/2" x 8" [14 x 20 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Les Miserables, the 1912 Albert Capellani French silent Paris France romantic crime melodrama ("In eight parts"; "From Victor Hugo's famous masterpiece") starring Henry Krauss (as Jean Valjean), Henri Etievant (as Javert), Maria Ventura (as Fantine), Maria Fromet (as Cosette), Mistinguett (as Eponine), and Gabriel de Gravone (as Marius). Apparently, this was a really epic silent movie that was released as one film in France in 1912, and then released in four separate parts in 1913. We know it was released in the U.S. in 1917 in eight parts, and that this was likely was the first U.S. release (and the IMDb says that it is). We were unable to locate more information about this movie (or its various releases on the Internet, which seems a shame, because it clearly was a very important movie in its day). Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good.
