Cain"; about a woman trapped in a loveless marriage who gets a drifter to kill her husband, and it seems like they will get away with it, but will they?) starring Lana Turner, John Garfield, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, Leon Ames, Audrey Totter, and Alan Reed. Note that this movie was re-made in 1981 by Bob Rafelson, starring Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Someone cut an oval area of paper out of the center of the poster (perhaps with scissors), and it measures 5" high by 6" wide (it extends into half of Garfield's left eye; see our image). The poster also had two areas of paper loss in the vertical foldline beneath the center fold, and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on the rest of the foldlines. It had pinholes and some stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking (primarily because of the large oval paper loss at center). The poster was pretty well backed, and a replacement piece was put in the center of the poster, and some restoration was done to make it match the rest of the image, and very surprisingly, it is not all that distracting (but certainly noticeable, especially from a close distance).
